History & Development
The Master of Environmental Engineering (PSMTL) programme at Diponegoro University (UNDIP) has a long history rooted in the development of the Faculty of Engineering. This journey began with the establishment of the Faculty of Engineering on 15 October 1960, which was previously called the Engineering Academy and was established on 20 October 1958. This transformation was part of the grand vision of prominent engineers such as Ir. Jacob Rais, Prof. Ir. Soemarman, and others, to establish an engineering higher education institution in Semarang.
In 1998, UNDIP officially launched the Bachelor of Environmental Engineering Programme (S1 Environmental Engineering), demonstrating the university’s commitment to environmental education. This commitment is getting stronger with the establishment of the Master of Environmental Engineering Program (PSMTL) on 1 December 2018, based on the Decree of the Minister of Research, Technology and Higher Education of the Republic of Indonesia (No. 698/UN7.P/HK/2018).
Since its establishment, PSMTL has focused on producing environmental engineers who are able to face today’s environmental challenges. The programme achieved ‘Good’ accreditation in 2021 (Accreditation Decree No. 11337/SK/BAN-PT/Akred/M/X/2021). This accreditation is an official recognition of the academic quality and governance of PSMTL. However, PSMTL does not stop here – the programme continues to strive for quality improvement with the target of achieving ‘Excellent’ accreditation in the next period. This improvement is done through improvements in governance, academic services, lecturer quality, and facilities.
The PSMTL curriculum is designed to keep up with industry developments and environmental issues, providing a comprehensive learning experience for students.The programme is committed to producing graduates who are ready to contribute to sustainable environmental solutions, both at national and global levels.
The Master of Environmental Engineering Study Programme successfully achieved ‘Excellent’ accreditation in 2024, based on LAM Engineering Decree No. 0164/SK/LAM Teknik/AM/IV/2024.This accreditation is an official recognition of the academic quality and governance of PSMTL. The programme continues to improve its quality through improvements in governance, academic services, lecturer quality, and facilities.
